As many a blogger can tell you, keeping an up-to-date blogroll is a daunting task.  It can be difficult enough to keep one's feed reader tidy.

Why might this be difficult, you ask? Well, some people stop writing or updating without warning, others announce they are leaving, and still others move to new locations.

I read a lot of blogs and wish I could read more (there are SO many fantastic blogs out there!), but I have to set some realistic limits.  Unfortunately, that required me to unsubscribe from several blogs I loved because there hasn't been any activity in months.

But, while I may have removed some feeds from my Google Reader, I also added new ones.  Before long, it was plainly obvious to me that the site's blogroll and my reader did not accurately reflect each other.

So, I went through and tidied up my links.  I considered redoing the categories, but realized it was very difficult for me to categorize people's blogs (especially since I don't read very many that are a strict niche).  There will be some restructuring done in the future yet, I'm sure, because that list is long…

But they have descriptions now!  That's right, I went through and added descriptions of each link on the blogroll that you can see when you hover over them.  (My personal favorite? The description for Massive Nerd. )

For the most part, I'd have to say if you enjoy reading my style, you'll enjoy those listed on the sidebar.  Also, please keep in mind that our ‘roll is not all inclusive.  Like I said, I tried to get it to match my reader better…

I also want to draw your attention to 3 fantastic places to help fill up an empty reader that hungers for all things Warcraft (or find something more specific that you want to read, but I don't have listed): TNB Big List of Blogs, Blog Azeroth, and Azeroth United.

Now go forth! Read the descriptions, giggle, and visit those sites! Feed your reader!

  • How thoughtful of you! It shows that your blogroll is well thought out and serious business.

I wish I could do something like that on my blogroll, but I’m afraid my basic Blogger tool doesn’t support it.

Just like you I have a REASON why I have blogs on my blogroll and I’d be happy to share it in decriptions if I could.

  • Wow, that’s really cool and thoughtful – I may pinch it 😉

And thank you for the kind description – hopefully we’ll keep you loling 🙂 Also I’m impressed you came up with it, I have no idea what my own blog is about 🙂

  • I’m still in awe that you did it! Not only are the descriptions potentially sensitive bombs (lawl) but that’s a huge blogroll.

I’m going to be a chicken and leave mine as it is for now, haha.

  • I keeps it real, I like that. Thank you for putting me on your blog, and taking time to make a description of my blog. It means alot to me….Though to be honest I was expecting an decriptive that contained perhaps Douchebag, or asshat. So I was mildly surprised. 🙂

  • @Sam – I said favorite description. 😛

@Klepsacovic – Feel free to borrow my description of your blog 😉

@Krizzlybear – Well, I know you are participating in NaNo so you are safe!

@Larísa – Thanks! It definitely took time to do it, so I certainly hope people appreciate and enjoy them. (And there seems to be good feedback!) I also tried to personalize them by mentioning blogger’s names as appropriate.

@Tamarind – Feel free to borrow the idea! That’s what we do across the blogosphere, right? 🙂

@Anea – Thanks! Yeah, the list has really grown… and there really should be more on there. >.< @Rivs - You are very welcome 🙂 As much as you would have known me calling you an asshat would be a form of endearment, not everyone would so y'know, didn't want to give anyone the wrong idea. (I kid, I kid!)

  • @Frijona – Honestly, I thought you had been on there already and was sad when I realized I hadn’t added you yet! And yes, my brain did hurt by the time I was finished lol

  • I have a question for you. How do you get the Achivements & Armory to show up on your blog? I’m trying to gut ours so it looks half way decent but I’m no good with HTML coding or widgets of any sort. If you could point me in to the proper direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

    kthx!

Welcome

We are a family of gamers. Mom (Darcy/Syrana) and Dad (Brian/Sideshow) have been gaming for as long as they can remember back when you only had a joystick to use and saved your games to cassette tapes.

They've been gaming together since they met in 2002. Sometime after 2006, they both started playing World of Warcraft and did that for many years. They started this blog, originally called Sideshow & Syrana which has now transitioned to the new Stay-At-Home Gamers site, while keeping all of the original content.

Starting in 2010, two more gamers came along (now known as Princess Boo and Mr. X) and they are now old enough where they both enjoy playing games and watching others play games. They are both excited to have others to watch them play their favorite games. Come along with us and let's enjoy these games together!
