Generation 1: Darcy and Brian (continued)

darcy heartbroken

Brian's death was quick and sudden and it racked the entire household.  After the bustle of police and paramedics, Darcy tried to ensure serenity throughout the household for the rest of the evening.  She hated that the children had been disturbed from their sleep and filled with grief.  Caleb, the youngest, appeared to be the least affected by Brian's passing; presumably because he is so young.

Darcy took a few days off work to grieve, but insisted the children should still attend school and follow their normal routines.  Darcy spent many sleepless nights pacing throughout the house and seemingly unable to do much of anything because her mood was so terrible.

After the funeral arrangements were completed, Darcy took a cab downtown to ensure the graving on Brian's headstone was accurate.  She started to feel a weight lifted off her shoulders once his plot was properly taken care of.  Mourning had a surprisingly calming affect, which helped Darcy attend to herself and her family as she needed to.

Aerissa seemed to hold herself together quite well for several days, but then, in typical teenage fashion, her mood plummeted out of nowhere.  She couldn't stand to get dressed, go to school, do her chores, paint, or do her homework.  She missed her father dearly, and tried very hard not to let anyone see her in such a vulnerable state.

As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, life slowly returned to normal in their household.  Aerissa and Xander further through themselves into their paining.  Aerissa began writing more than just children's tales.  Darcy wrote more often as well, selling more and more articles.

hunky man is the solution

After awhile though, some of Darcy's friends and coworkers were getting concerned.  They felt it had been long enough for Darcy to get back out on the market and meet someone new… someone to be her companion as well as help her raise her three children.  Many expressed their concern for Caleb, especially, being so young without a solid male role model.  Darcy would counter with Xander being a wonderful older brother… but he was still a child himself.

  • Haha, it can certainly be fun to plot death and destruction… especially of pesky neighbors. I don’t usually kill off my own creations though, just Townies. 🙂

Welcome

We are a family of gamers. Mom (Darcy/Syrana) and Dad (Brian/Sideshow) have been gaming for as long as they can remember back when you only had a joystick to use and saved your games to cassette tapes.

They've been gaming together since they met in 2002. Sometime after 2006, they both started playing World of Warcraft and did that for many years. They started this blog, originally called Sideshow & Syrana which has now transitioned to the new Stay-At-Home Gamers site, while keeping all of the original content.

Starting in 2010, two more gamers came along (now known as Princess Boo and Mr. X) and they are now old enough where they both enjoy playing games and watching others play games. They are both excited to have others to watch them play their favorite games. Come along with us and let's enjoy these games together!
