I'm sure you've seen this baby making it's way across the blogosphere. It's sort of memeish but also a Blog Azeroth shared topic, which was proposed by Bible of Dreams. I decided it would be appropriate to take a look at my answers on the very last day of 2009.
No, I wasn't procrastinating. Why do you ask?
Also, before we get into my answers here… I'm going to incorporate bloggish related things along with in game things. Since, well, for the past year, blogging about WoW and gaming is another aspect of playing the game to me.
What did you do in the World of Warcraft in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I raided (part of) Naxxramas! Although I've been playing for just over 3 years, I didn't have the opportunity to experience old Naxx. So that was certainly something I'd never done before. I've also been working on fishing! Never thought I'd see the day….
Oh, and let's not forget that I finally got a shot at polishing the floor of Sunwell with my face this year.
Outside the game, I got to have fun on some podcasts! I had never done that before. It was tons of fun and I look forward to more of that in 2010. (Why, yes, this is another plug for Polygamerous. Why do you ask?)
What was your favorite new place that you visited?
This is a tough question. I want to say all of Northrend, but I visited most of (if not all) the zones after it's release at the end of 2008. I do really love the scenery in Howling Fjord, Crystalsong Forest, and Sholazar Basin. In fact, I'd say there needs to be more quests for Crystalsong Forest. I want an excuse to spend more time there, dammit!
Outside the game, BlizzCon. I mean, seriously. It was awesome.
What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
I'd really like to have a max level Alliance character.
Did I just hear you gasp?
No, seriously, I would. I have yet to make it there and would like to have at least one. I love the Horde, true enough, but you know what they say… “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.”
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Aww, I can't pick just one. Please stop trying to make me!
*looks up at the last question*Â Oh, guess I shoulda listed that up there, huh?
Outside the game, bloggin' ‘n being a part of the community. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's just too much fun!
What was your biggest failure?
I like to reframe things. There are no failures, only setbacks.
I know I fail at times, but I try to learn from them… but nothing big comes to mind of the “omgifailedsohard” variety.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
BlizzCon. Cataclysm. Worgen. Goblins. Talent mastery. Path of the Titans. Soul shard reworking. Guild leveling.
I got excited about a lot of things this year, really.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Playing the meta-bag game. Yes, I realize there are addons that will pseudo-sort my bags for me, but I like them… “just so” and in their place.
Actually, I wish I could have back all the hours I spent organizing and re-organizing the guild bank. It became a huge time sink.
Although, it was quite hilarious when Samodean kept moving things around in our alt guild bank while I was organizing it. That and his threats to mess it up and post screenshots of it just to traumatize me. Haha, good times.
Outside the game, I wish I spent less time thinking up ideas for posts and more time writing. I've written so many posts in my head, you just don't know. Only a fraction of them have made it to the screen. It's a lot of work composing it in your head, then having to … ya know, type it.
WTB mind to post thingamabob.
What was your favorite WoW blog or podcast?
Again, I CANNOT choose just one. I mean, look at the blogroll over there on the right hand side. It's a beast! I love 'em all. And there are even more blogs in my feedreader that aren't listed over yonder.
If you insist on making me select one…. close your eyes and click randomly on the blogroll. It's that one. *nodnod*
Tell us a valuable WoW lesson you learned in 2009.
Know your limits. Speaking of post ideas (the ones in my head and all the drafted ideas… and scribbly notes on my desk…) I've been meaning to write about this, so I'm afraid I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here. But basically I learned a lot more about knowing my own limits and respecting others' limits. This ranges from play time to burnout to guild officer leadership to committing to responsibilities…etc. etc.
Whoa! We've made it to the end. *poke* You still awake over there?
Now, I know I'm technically supposed to tag others to fill it out… but it's the last day of 2009. I think just about everyone filled it out already. If you have not answered these questions yet and would like to do so – have at it! If you don't have a blog where you can post your answers, feel free to do so in the comments. (Or start one! No time like the present 🙂 )
